Raptors in microcosm
duration: 1 x 35 min.
format: TV-programming, natural history
material: digital betacam
This film takes us into the world of predatory insects, spiders and scorpions. Thrilling scenes await us
in the struggle for life and death, exciting moments when these insects capture their prey,
visualized by 3D computer animation illuminating the body structure and weapons of attack
of the raptors such as for example praying mantises, bird-catching spiders, scorpions
and bugs of prey.
The development and origin of the arthropodes are explained by means of elaborate morph-transformations
scenes and set in their evolutionary context.
Computer visualizations of primeval times with dinosaurs, stone-age landscapes and the reconstruction
of primitive insects grant insight into the early development of insects and arachnids.
